Oil is defined as â€Å"any of numerous unctuous combustible substances that are liquid or can be liquefied easily on warming, are soluble in ether but not in water, and leave a greasy stain on paper or cloth† (Merriam Webster Online Dictionary), but the United States of America knows it better as their source of transportation. Oil has many uses, but oil main use is for fuel in motor vehicles. Oil is found thousands of miles below the earth’s crust and is drilled for in many locations. When oil is found after it is drilled it called crude oil (existing in a natural state and unaltered by cooking or processing) (Merriam Webster Online Dictionary). When oil prices change it causes the price of everything else to do as well. The obvious change is gas prices, but not just for your car. Oil prices affect shi pping of goods. The higher the price for gas the higher the price of transportation of goods. So in order to soften the economical strain on America’s pocket, they drill within its own boarders. The ideal of drilling within one’s own boarder is ingenious. Drilling within your own boarders: could stop a nation from relying on other nations, help it become more self efficient, it can create jobs, and over all boost the economy. The affect that one seems to factor in drilling for oil is an oil spill. There are many things that can cause an oil spill a leak in a pipe, an oil shipping rink sinking, a drilling rink exploding, and many other factors. Oil spills have devastating effects on the environment. The answer to these problems is a simple one but oil has been clouding are judgment. America should change to an alternative fuel source. An alternative fuel is a re-usable non oil base fuel. An example of an alternative fuel is sun light, hydrogen, water, and many others. A lternative fuels have many benefits to America and world such as helping prevent global warming, helping re-stabilize the economy and lower man made disasters such as oil spills.
